CoastInfo International can advise on Dutch and European nature legislation. The Dutch “Flora- en faunawet” (Flora and Fauna laws), Natuurbeschermingswet 1998 (Nature Protection Law 1998) and the Bird and Habitat Directives can have a big impact on building plans or other spatial interventions. A good advice at the start of your project can save a lot of time and money.
Our services include research, ecological impact assessments and related policy advice. We also provide workshops and short courses on these subjects. For more information, see our Reference projects.
- Report “A combined coastal defence system and sea yacht marina at Katwijk, orienting test on nature protection legislation (including Natura 2000) with advice on mitigation and compensation measures and further research” for client Nederlandse Zeejachthaven Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij B.V. (2009). This report describes the possibilities for the establishment of a marina in the mouth of the Old Rhine near Katwijk, the resulting opportunities and threats for nearby Natura 2000 sites and the relevant nature legislation. This results in a report with a number of recommendations for the development of the marina in relationship to coastal defence and nature development.
